Can we be assured of our salvation?

Those who are saved can have an assurance of that salvation. But it is equally true that those who are not, can believe they are saved. This is evident from all these diverse groups with diverse gospels and doctrines that believe they are saved with some believing that only they are saved to the exclusion of others.

So how do we know if we are saved when we know that many believe they are saved and yet disagree and even condemn each other?

The difference between the two is that one knows in their spirit with signs and/or wonders from God that demonstrate their standing with God, while others have a head knowledge and intellectual belief that they must be saved because they perhaps believe that they or only they have the truth. The latter explains those who call Jesus Lord, yet he says to them that he never knew them. Further proof that he didn’t know them is because he calls them workers of iniquity. In other words their works are not of God, but of themselves. They are not hearing the shepherd and thus he is not their head, rather they take their instructions from a man-made denomination or structure and think it is the Church that they are working for.

Denominations generally do works that are really more about promoting themselves and their Church than promoting the Kingdom of God. Yet we are clearly instructed to do all things in the name of Jesus Christ and that even a glass of water given in his name shall not lose its reward. But they do works in their own name. Like Babel, they build towers (churches) in their own name with their steeples rising up to the heavens and the glory in their own name. This is why we see so many divisions. God has divided them in the same way that he divided those at Babel. And he does this so that they are not united in their iniquity lest they accomplish anything their hearts desire. Division is God’s way of lessening iniquity.

So we have two kinds of people that know they are saved, those who are and those who are not. So how do we know which camp we are in? Further, it is also possible that we are saved, but not to be sure of it. In that case, I think these words of Paul are pertinent.  “Enlighten the eyes of our hearts” in Ephesians 1:18. So with that, here is a list of verses that enlighten us to understand our own salvation.

1 John 3:14
“We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren.”

    Hi,

    Jn 1.12

But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become children of God,

Having entered through the door we are urged to walk and to knock, seek and ask, to access grace and to pray earnestly. Scripture is full of warnings to make a profit on the investment God has made in us and to produce fruit.

God has done all He can to help us grow into adults.

But it is no armchair ride as some suggest.

That is the message of human religion

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

This is how we know those born of God. They have the Spirit and the Spirit bears fruit. Condemnation, accusations, and bitterness are not of the Spirit. Many speak scripture, but do it for their own purpose. Some use scripture to draw men to the truth and God.

This girl followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who are proclaiming to you the way of salvation.” She continued this for many days. Eventually Paul grew so aggravated that he turned and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” And the spirit left her at that very moment.

    Hi T8,

The Scriptures do rebuke those who wander off the path into the fables of tradition.

    Listen to the Spirit.

Agreed Nick. John taught that those who have the Spirit will love. It is by this fruit and others that we know who has been born from above. Many claim they are special and go around condemning and accusing others because their way is the right way, but they lack love which proves to us their true relationship with God. God is love and so it is that he fellowships with those who love. There is no way of getting around this. You cannot argue it away. Even if you were skilled enough to argue it away, it would do nothing for you on that day would it? That day comes to us all.

    Hi T8,

Love includes pulling the deceived from the fire.

Love is not happy with deception but is with truth.

Love is also gentle, kind, and doesn’t accuse people day and night and try to make people feel inferior or inadequate.Yes it pulls people from the fire, but it doesn’t condemn those because they hold not your exact views on everything. Blessed are the peacemakers for this reason. Some wage war because their genealogical arguments do not match or do not place themselves under one’s supposed authority.

While the forums are here to test all things, they are not here to condemn all people. Of course some issues are serious and we should try and pull people from the fire, but others are not serious and absolute and should not let them go in order to create a false peace, but neither should never divide on these variables.

While we are on this subject, I have a question which I expect a yes / no answer to.

Did Jesus Christ come in the flesh?

    Hi T8,

Jesus Christ came in the flesh.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.

The Word was with God and was God. The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.

    Know the Spirit of Christ.

    Hi T8,

    in context

    2Cor 3.16

” but whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

But we all, with unveiled faces, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord,

are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory,

just as from the Lord, the Spirit”

    2 Cor 5.4f

“And If our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,

in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving

so they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bondservants

    for Jesus’ sake.”
